Earlene “Granny” Beene, age 85, passed away February 7, 2023, at home following a short illness. She was born December 6, 1937, to the late Thomas and Alice Jones Farmer. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Beene; son-in-law, John “Sam” Layne; brothers, James and Leon Farmer; and a sister, Elsie Bell.
Granny loved to go out and eat and watch Atlanta Braves baseball. She enjoyed playing corn hole with friends and family and loved to go walking and sitting on her front porch. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Beene Layne; grandchildren, Heather Layne, Ashley (Damon) Clements, and Samantha (Allen Hoyt) Layne; great grandchildren, Kenzie Rutherford, Drake Turner, Aria Clements, and Thorin Clements; and a special friend, John Condra.
