Thomas 'Sam' Newton Farmer posted a condolence
Tuesday, February 20, 2024
Earlene Farmer Beene was my aunt. My name is Thomas (Sam) Newton Farmer and I am the oldest surviving son of Aunt Erlene's brother (Hugh) Leon Farmer. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing. She still looked the way I remembered her mostly as a child and once as a teenager. Very stern, always to the point, the glue of the Farmer family for many a year and the matriarch of the Farmer clan after Grandma Alice passed. I remember as a small boy how Aunt Erlene supervised the family meetings and flawless execution of Grampa's (Thomas) funeral. This is the earliest memory I have of my family heritage. That and the meeting with my Great, Great Uncle Sam Farmer. I regret that I didn't return to Monteagle to get to know my family though I have spoken with Darlene over the phone once. I love all of you and wish to know where I came from. But most of all, I miss another opportunity of seeing a Farmer leave this world without being there. I wish I could have known my Aunt and her family more. God bless. With love, Sam Farmer
