Ellis Pennington Obituary (1944 - 2022) Ellis Eugene Pennington passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from natural causes at his home with family by his side. Ellis was born Jan. 10, 1944 in Ashland, KY to Edgil Pennington and Mary Johnson. He had two brothers and his family moved to Nampa, ID in 1948. Ellis graduated from Nampa High School 1962. He managed the Nampa Rollerdrome where Ellis met the love of his life, Carra Marie Crill. They were married on June 29, 1963 and were blessed with three children: Brenda, Bobbi and James. He worked as a foreman at Meridian Wood Products and as a beef processor at Armour Meat Co. In 1975 they moved to Homedale, ID where they owned and operated the Homedale Laundromat for nearly five years. Ellis began his career with Homedale School District in 1977 and worked as a custodian, bus driver and maintenance supervisor until he retired after 20 years of service. He and Carra spent 15 fun years enjoying winters in Quartzite, AZ, riding ATVs, rock hounding and meeting new friends. Camping, hunting, fishing and time with friends and family were some of his favorite pastimes. He loved to travel with family and spent many happy vacations in Mexico and adventure cruising, meeting new people and going to new places. In August 2020, Ellis and Carra sold their Wilder, ID home and moved to Monteagle, TN to enjoy warmer weather and to be closer to their great-grandchildren. He loved riding his lawn mower, listening to the wind in the trees, watching the deer and birds, and making new friends at the coffee shop. Ellis is survived by his wife, Carra; his brother, Dave (Pat) of Nampa, ID; his children: Brenda of Murfreesboro, TN; Bobbi (Rick) of Mt Juliet, TN; and James (Susan) of Filer, ID; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry. Ellis never met a stranger; he was a friendly, big-hearted, wonderful man who was always willing to lend a hand. He always had a ready smile, infectious laughter, and a twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes. Ellis will be missed by all who loved him. He liked a simple life and at Ellis’ request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead of flowers, friends can donate to St. Jude’s and can enjoy a good meal with friends and family; whenever you have fish or seafood he will be there! Online condolences may be made at: www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net Arrangements are entrusted to Cumberland Funeral Home, Inc.
