Obituary of John Kenneth Myers

John Kenneth Myers, Sr., age 94, of Tracy City, Tennessee, passed away
Thursday, March 14, 2019.
He was born in College Station, Tennessee, the son of the late Claude and
Argie Ingram Myers, was a graduate of Grundy County High School, and
served in the U. S. Navy in World War II as a PT boat mechanic in the
Philippines.
Mr. Myers retired from Tennessee Valley Authority Widows Creek Steam
Plant and was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of
Tracy City where he served on the pastoral relations board and sang in the
choir. He also served on the board of directors of Hillcrest/Meadowood, the
Tracy City water board, and as head of the Grundy County Food Bank. His
other community activities included the Sportsman’s Club and the Sons of
Confederate Veterans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jim and
Bernard Myers and his sisters Doris Crawford and Helen Kirk.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Billie Faye Hampton Myers, his
daughter Kathy (Billy) Tiller; sons John, Jr. (Betty), Steve (Debbie), Sam
(Beth) and Chris Myers; grandchildren Julia Tiller, John III, Scott, Jamie, Jay,
Clinton, Lydia and Kent Myers; sisters-in-law Ann Myers, Dorothy (Jerry)
Hilton, Judy (Ronald) Crabtree; brother-in-law Jim (Cheryl) Hampton; many
nieces and nephews and loving friends.
Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church Saturday,
March 16, at 2 pm CDT, with the Rev. Danny Coffelt officiating. Visitation at
the church will be from 12 noon until the time of the service. The family will
also receive visitors Friday evening, March 15, from 5 pm until 9 pm at
Cumberland Funeral Home, Tracy City. Burial will be in Plainview
Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net.  

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist
Church or to the Grundy County Food Bank.
