Obituary of Nina Parks

Mrs. Nina Ruth Miller Parks age 87 of Monteagle, Tennessee passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, in Emerald-Hodgson Skilled Care in Sewanee. She was born in Albertville, Alabama, a daughter of the late Alton and Rena Chattin Miller and was preceded in death by a sister, Beecie. She married Fred Parks, a long time educator and principal at Grundy County High School, he passed away in 1996. Mrs. Nina, also a beloved teacher, had taught school for over 40 years spending many of those at Monteagle Elementary School. Mrs. Parks was a member of Monteagle Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Fred Miller "Butch" Parks, Orlando, FL; grandchildren, John Parks, Casey Parks and Haley Parks; nephews, Ernest Glenn Lautzenheiser and Max Malone; brother, Rex Miller, Tallahassee, FL; extended family, Sharron and Tony Gilliam; and hundreds of her children (students) from her many years of teaching. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Ray Winton officiating. Burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery.
