Alma Irene Roddy Harper, 89, passed from this life onto her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 4, 2011 at "The Bridge" rest home in Monteagle, Tennessee. She was born August 1, 1922 and was a life long resident of Tracy City. Ms. Harper was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Harper of Summerville, GA; her parents, Maude Berry Roddy and Burge Sims Roddy Sr. of Tracy City; and her brother, Burge Sims Roddy, Jr. of Tracy City. She was a graduate of Grundy County High School and attended Edmondson School of Business in Chattanooga, TN. She worked at the firm of Meyer Winer & Associates, CPA in Chattanooga for over 25 years. She was an accomplished pianist, violinist and organist, winning many awards and accolades during her elementary and high school years. She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the order of the Eastern Star, #266. She was the pianist for several years for the Eastern Star. In 1998 she was elected as alderman to the Tracy City Council where she served one term. She is survived by daughter, Helen "Tookey" Harper, Newnan, GA; Sisters, Helen Roddy, Newnan, GA and Maude Melton, Chattanooga, TN. Two grandchildren, Wendee Miller, Newnan, GA and Christopher Loveless, Puerta de Viejo, Costa Rica. One great granddaughter, Morgan Miller, Newnan, GA. Services will be conducted at Foster/Lay Funeral Home in Tracy City on Saturday, September 10. Visitation 11:00 a.m. to time of service. Interment immediately following at Tracy City Cemetery.
