Mrs Cravens, as we used to call her, was a mother to us international students at Sewanee and she and her late husband provided us many a memorable afternoon at their cozy home to cook, have tea or just hang out. I will never forget how she drove me to get my wisdom teeth taken out and drove me home, and left me soup on the doorstep later on. She had a bicycle which she very generously lent me to learn to ride one, and I am not sure in what state I left it finally as I had many a fall in the process! She was a wonderful and warm human being. Her memory will live on in the minds of many an international student at Sewanee who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace. I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet Boo. I didn't know her well, but she's the kind of person that makes an immediate and lasting impression. And the more I learned about her over the years through family and friends, the more amazed I was about the kind of person she was. She was so smart, so strong and so full of energy. I've become more and more afraid of aging, but Boo's strong character has taught me that age really is only a number...her strong character truly INSPIRES me! I know her beloved family is feeling a huge loss...you are all in my thoughts and prayers. ~Dana

I met Rhea Cravens (niece of Boo) in 1970 at the University of Florida. From day one, I fell in love with Rhea and the entire Cravens family. I soon visited Sewanee and met the family and the famous "Boo" , aunt and mentor to the younger clan. As the obituary noted, Boo was a force - a good and lovable force with great knowledge and foresight regarding many topics and subjects. Once you met Boo, you never forgot her. She loved the students and people of Sewanee and if you visited her, she put you in the car and not only showed you the campus but introduced you to anyone who happened to be on the street - students, professors, administrators and the grounds crew. Boo loved them all! Boo leaves behind my favorite friends whom I now consider family - Rhea, Fain and DuVal. I love you guys and my thoughts and prayers are with you now.

BOO Cravens was a unique, smart, caring, powerful woman, who helped many people (especially young people) during her long lifetime. The underprivileged were who she thought often about, but she had advice for almost anyone. She was always collecting books, puzzles, toys, etc for friends children or children in need that she had heard about. She is missed already.

Boo was quite something that is for sure. She was such a strong lady. Losing someone like that leaves a big empty space but her friends and family will carry on her memory. Giving to charity in her memory/honor is exactly what Boo would want. I send my love to all that loved her.
