Obituary of James O. Smith

Mr. James O. Smith age 91 of Coalmont, Tennessee passed away Monday evening, November 6, 2017. James was a son of the late Oscar Smith and Thelma Meeks Smith and was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Smith; daughter, Kathy Shrum; great-grandson, Taylor Sinks; brother, Paul Smith; sister, Magdeline Sanders.

Mr. Smith had worked in the coalmines, operated broiler houses and was a carpenter, having built many houses in the area. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed gardening and canning.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Jocelyn Smith, Estill Springs; son-in-law, Mike Shrum, Nashville; grandchildren, Chris Smith, Cody Smith, Lori Sinks and Travis Shrum; 7 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at Coalmont Cemetery with Pastor Clayton Jones officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. At the funeral home. On line condolences may be made at:www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net.
