Obituary of Mary Reid Tucker

Mary Elizabeth Reid Tucker (Tibby), age 85, of Sewanee, Tennessee, died July 25, 2011 at Willows of Winchester Care and Rehab Center following a long illness. She was born to Fred and Ruby Hall Reid, February 14, 1926 in Sewanee. Tibby worked as a clerk at the University Supply Store from 1943 until 1966, at which time she transferred to the Development Office. She retired February 1991 after 48 years of service. Not happy with retirement, she worked at DuBose Conference Center for 9 years. Tibby always enjoyed her home and her flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Clarence Reid, two sisters, Hazel Landreth and Louise Durkee, niece Debbie Durkee and nephew Eddie Durkee. She is survived by her son, Freddy Tucker; nieces Carol (Steve) Doughty, Barbara (Henry) Bedford, Dina Gray, Grace Ann Landreth, Linda Landreth, Sarah Landreth, Mary Louise Landreth and Dianna Durkee, nephews, Mike Reid, Carl (Linda) Reid, Jr., and Robert Landreth, cousin Mildred Reid Stovall and good friends/caregivers, Louise Irwin and Gail Parsons. Visitation will be held in the Cumberland Funeral Home parlor Wednesday 5-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Otey Memorial Parish Church with Reverend Joe Ballard and Reverend Joe Porter. Burial of Ashes: Eastern Star Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cumberland Funeral Home, 207 Mabee Avenue, Monteagle, Tennessee 37356, 931-924-2381.
