James Lawson, whom I’ve always known as David, was the most kind and caring person, who was always willing to help everyone he came in contact with. David loved all people, animals, (especially his dog), and his wife Connie, who sadly passed before him. David raised many kids, but never had any of his own, and loved each and every one of them like they were his own. He was big into his sobriety and was a very proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He loved to go and mentor to his AA friends and was passionate in helping others who were struggling. David’s health was always failing one way or another, but it never kept him down. He was always out greeting and talking to people at the doctor’s offices, the hospital, around town, and would always stop and talk to me and my family. David always said that he did not have a family and we adopted him then and there. It was a joy to see him around town, and to call him to check on him and see how he was doing. The best surprise (I believe) that he ever had was, us showing up to the hospital he was at, with a big bouquet of balloons and well wishes.
I wish David well, and hope that he finds Connie, as he believed in the Lord and praised him even though life threw him a hard time.
