Tracy City – Mr. Charles William “Frosty” Byers Sr., 92, passed away in the morning hours of Friday June 30, 2017 at the Manchester Health Care Center. He was born in Tracy City on August 21, 1924 to William Monroe Byers and Lena Rivers Stump Byers who preceded him in death along with his wife, Della Mae Gross Byers; infant daughter, Julia Teresa Byers; sisters, Mildred Scissom, Willene Byers and Ruth Baker; brothers, James Everett and Stanley Byers; grandson, Jason Byers; great grandson, Jake Meeks.

Charles known by his friends and family as Frosty served his country with pride in the United States Army during WWII.

He was a mechanic at Varnell Chevrolet in Tracy City and drove a school bus for Grundy County Schools for many years. He was a member of the Myers Hill First Congregational Methodist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Charles William (Sue) Byers Jr. and David Levon (Mary Ann) Byers; sister, Joyce Evon Baggenstoss; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the Foster and Lay Chapel chapel with Minister Dennis Rollins officiating with Military Honors provided by the Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. Burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery. Visitation: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM Saturday at Cumberland Funeral Home, Tracy City, Tennessee. www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net
