Obituary of Carl Dykes

Mr. Carl E. Dykes age 90 of Tracy City, Tennessee died at his home Thursday evening, January 5, 2017. He was a retired machinist, a WW II U.S. Army veteran and a member of Central Church of Christ in Tracy City. Carl and his wife, Dorace had operated the Tracy City Dairy Bar in the 1950's and 60's. Carl was born in Marion County near Tracy City on October 22, 1926, a son of the late Clinton and Nancy Lee O'Neal Dykes, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorace Goodman Dykes; brothers, Stanley, Gordon, Grady, John and Carmon Dykes. Survivors include his wife, Bettye P. Dykes; children, Carl Ronald Dykes, William Harold (Kathy) Dykes and Charlotte Patricia (Wade) Campbell; step-children, Paula Paseur and Shirley Ann Street Hunziker; sisters, Eula Mae Dykes and Marie McDaniel; 5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Alan Mayes officiating. Burial will be in City Cemetery, Tracy City. The Sequatchie Valley Veterans Honor Guard will provide full military honors for Mr. Dykes. The family will receive friends Saturday 5-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
