Mr. William Ray Turner age 90 of Tracy City passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016, at his home. Mr. Turner was born in Tracy City on February 1, 1926, a son of the late, James Walter Turner, Sr. and Annie McCreary Turner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie on May 30th this year; brothers, James Walter Turner, Jr., Estele Lee Turner and six other brothers and sisters; granddaugter, Leah Marie Turner.
Mr. Tuner had retired from construction work and was our local historian, he was well known all over the United States as the go to person to find out about historical facts and people of Grundy County. He loved for people to call or come by and talk about Grundy County's past, our famous, as well at the infamous residents, coal mining, railroad, moonshine, or any other good story.
Survivors include his sons, Larry (Janice) Turner and Travis (Sharon) Turner; granddaughters, Alice and Sara Beth Turner; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Freddie Savage officiating. Burial will be in Orange Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5-9 P.M. At the funeral home. On line condolences may be made at: www.fosterlayfuneralhome.net.
