Obituary of Buford Newsome

Mr. Buford Eugene Newsome age 72 of Monteagle passed from this life Friday evening, May 20, 2016, at his home. He was a son of the late Charles A. and Gladys Brown Newsome and was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Cook, Nell Cornelison and Margaret "Beck" Newsome; nephew, Charles Cook. Mr. Newsome was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in VietNam, later he became an educator and taught in Grundy County Schools. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Monteagle. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Irene O'Dea Clardy Newsome; children, Carol Ann (Dale) Jones, Reuben Cordell Newsome and Aubery Claborn Newsome; grandchildren, Blake, Brooke and Blair Foshee, Shelbi, Colby, Kaylee, Abby and Anthony, Mallory and Max; brother, Cordell (Debbie) Newsome; sister, Ruth (Tony) Bailey; great-grandchildren, Kade,Kaleb, Kamden and Kreek; nephews and nieces, Walter Cook, Lisa Taylor, Tonya Kimbro, Heather Brewer and Nat Newsome. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM, in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends Monday evening 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
