James (Jim) E. Worley, age 73, affectionately referred to as Ed by his family, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2016 at his home. A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 30, 2016. Burial will take place in Monteagle Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Worley is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Melessie Jo Falls Worley, four children: Orlanda Worley Page (Jason), Belinda Worley Baron (Tim Loflin), James Edward Worley II (Stephanie), and Patricia Ann Worley Flannery (Monta). He also leaves behind five grandchildren; Lauren Linger (Kristopher) Amerson, Hunter Loflin, Cameron Page, Katherine Worley and Kasey Worley and three great-grandchildren; Olivia, Kloe, and Sawyer Amerson, brothers and sisters; Bobby Worley (Janice), Linda Worley Reas, Sandra Sanders(late Teddy Ray), Phillip Worley (Sue) and Steve Worley, Aunt; Martha Worley. He is also survived by Annie Sue Tipton, Lucille Shrum, Martha Worley and OmaLee Ladd. He was preceded in death by his parents; James and Margaret (Sue) Worley, son; Gary Lee Worley, sister; Agnes Worley, brother; Ronnie Worley, as well as many aunts and uncles. James served for 20 years in the United States Armed services. During his distinguished career, he served two tours of duty overseas in the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals, including the Vietnam Service medal (5 campaigns), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal (1st OLC), Over Seas Service Bars (3), Recruiter Badge with three Gold Stars, Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He grew up in Hiram Kentucky. As a child, he spent many wonderful hours with his best friend and Cousin Freddie Wayne Messick. After his 20 years in the Army, James worked for the United States Postal Service for 20 years where he received several accolades for outstanding customer service. Upon his retirement from the USPS, his passion became, fishing. Before his death, he frequently recalled many fond memories of spending hours fishing with his brothers, cousins, children and friends.
