Miriam Illsley Lincoln Sarver, a longtime resident of Pontotoc (MS) and later Tupelo (MS), died Thursday, February 4, 2016, in Huntsville, Alabama. While living in Pontotoc, she was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and served in many teaching and leadership capacities. During her time in Tupelo she was a resident at Traceway Retirement Community where she was very involved with the library and other activities. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Tupelo. Miriam loved her family and her faith; she enjoyed spending time with friends, playing bridge, gardening and antiquing, and she was an avid golfer. She always opened her heart and her home to those in need. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 21, 2016, at Christ The King Anglican Church in Decherd, Tennessee with the Rev. William Midgett officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastern Star Cemetery in Sewanee, Tennessee. Survivors include three sons, Alexander and Karen Lincoln of Lafayette, Louisiana, William and Connie Lincoln of Wilmington, South Carolina, and Carl and Lou Ann Lincoln of Alpharetta, Georgia; four grandchildren, Allyson Lincoln, Cotton Lincoln, Chelsea Lincoln, and Tristan Lincoln; two great-grandchildren, Bella Lincoln and Aerowyn Lincoln; a niece Merry Beth MacNamee of Lawrenceville, New Jersey; and a nephew Edward Illsley of Memphis, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Emma Illsley; husbands, Alexander Benton Lincoln, and Roy Jack Sarver and brother William Augustus Illsley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Pontotoc, Mississippi or Christ The King Anglican Church in Decherd, Tennessee. Cumberland Funeral Home in Monteagle, Tennessee is handling the arrangements.
