Obituary of Jerry Bryant

Jerry William Bryant age 56 of Tracy City passed away Friday evening, January 15, 2016 at home surrounded by his family, after a hard fought battle with cancer for over three years. Jerry retired from Signal Mountain Cement after 30 years of service. He was a member of Tracy City First United Methodist Church, he was strong in his faith and belief in God; he was a loving husband, father and Papa; he enjoyed sports, weight lifting, cooking, fishing, yard work, and vacations with his family. Jerry was an accomplished football player for Grundy County High School, he continues to hold many records in rushing yards and points scored for season and career. He was a mentor to many young athletes in the community. Jerry always gave one hundred per cent in every aspect of his life including his battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.R. Bryant and Faye Anderson Bryant; brother, Chris Bryant; father-in-law, "Buck" Sanders. Survivors include his wife, Dorie Bryant; sons, Nick and his wife, Rachel, Justin and his wife, Blair; grandchildren, Vincent and Kaleigh Bryant, Kellen and Jalen Bryant; sisters, Sherrie and Kathy Bryant; brothers, Sammy and Troy (Cindy) Bryant; mother-in-law, Dot Sanders; sister-in-laws, Jonny Rose and James "Bubbe" Conry, Charlotte and Johnny McGuire, Sarah and Darrell Brown; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday at Tracy City First United Methodist Church with Reverend Danny Coffelt officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening 5-9 P.M. at the funeral home and on Monday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. at the church.
