Obituary of Sr. Bennett

Mr. James W. Bennett, Sr. age 88 of the Jumpoff community near Sewanee, TN passed away Saturday evening, December 26, 2015, at Golden Living in Winchester. Mr. Bennett was born in Ladd's Cove in Marion County, a son of the late Mack S. Bennett and Clara Tate Bennett, he was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Joe, Mack, Fred and Charles Bennett; sisters, Mary Biggs and Dorothy Pack. Mr. Bennett was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Betty Bennett, Sewanee; daughter, Regina Cash (Hershell Brown) of Decherd; sons, James Jr. (Crysta Austin) of Manchester and Steven Bennett of Sewanee; brother, John P. (Katherine) Bennett of Sewanee; sisters, Carol Davidson and Ellen Willis both of Nashville, Joyce Gass, Linda Stanley and Judy Copeland all of Dickson, TN; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Bill Owens officiating. Burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery with full military honors provided by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Monday 5-9 p.m. and Tuesday 8:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. On line condolences may be shared with the family at: www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net.
