On December 14, 2015, David William Thomas passed peacefully from this world. He was surrounded by his loving family. David was known as a master craftsman, builder and carpenter. During his career, he and his brother Robert owned a construction company and built many homes in the area. Several have been featured in architecture design publications. David was born April 26, 1929 in Monteagle, Tennessee to Charles and Nettie Thomas who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Thomas, children and stepchildren: Jerry Don (Jenny) Thomas, Jeff (Charlotte) Thomas, Jackie Rhodes, and Jay Tucker all of Monteagle and Charles (Rita) Thomas of Piedmont, Alabama. He is also survived by a brother, Charlton (June) Thomas of Monteagle and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Thomas, sister Charlene Lowrie, and granddaughter, Lauren Thomas. Visitation will be held at Cumberland Funeral Home in Monteagle, TN. Saturday from 12:00—3:00 pm. Visitation will be followed by a memorial service at 3:00 with Claude Hoback and Freddie Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lauren Thomas Scholarship Fund, Saint Andrews-Sewanee School, 290 Quintard Rd, Sewanee, TN 37375 or Harrison Chapel Methodist Church, PO 203, Sewanee, TN 37375.
