Anna Mary Parker passed away on August 25, 2015, at Summit Medical Center in Hermitage. She was born on January 30, 1917, and was preceded in death by her parents, Overall Parker and Esther Francis Parker, and her sister Willa Francis "Dish" McCullough. She is survived by cousins and close friends. She was the longest living member of Morton Memorial United Methodist Church in Monteagle, Tennessee, where she served as historian and as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She spent many summers during her early life working in the boarding house her parents owned on the Monteagle Sunday School Assembly. Miss Parker taught English, Algebra, and French at Grundy County High School from 1938-1958. She then became a technical editor for the Air Force at A.E.D.C until her retirement in 1978. She was very active in the Grundy County Historical Society, and volunteered at the Grundy County Food Bank. She moved to McKendree Towers in Hermitage in 1988 and became very involved in Senior Olympics obtaining several gold medals in swimming. She also volunteered to deliver food for "Meals on Wheels" after moving to McKendree. She especially enjoyed traveling and had visited all fifty states as well as Mexico, Canada, and The Holy Land. She also loved using the computer, and until recently stayed in touch with family and friends through e-mails. Her latest accomplishment using the computer was compiling a four volume scrap book of her life's history. Visitation will be Friday evening, August 28, 2015 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Cumberland Funeral Home with a Graveside Service at Monteagle Cemetery on Saturday at 10:00AM with pastor Amanda Diamond conducting services.
