Obituary of Barney Nunley

Mr. Barney Jasper Nunley age 78 of Tracy City passed from this life to his eternal home Friday evening, July 31, 2015, at home with his family by his side. He was born in Coalmont, a son of the late Perry and Lillie Drake Nunley and was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Denise; brothers, Claude, James David and Clarence Nunley; sister, Lillian Campbell. Mr. Nunley had worked for many years in the coal mining as an equipment operator and operated poultry houses and also worked at the Grundy County Highway Department. He attended Plainview Community Church and was always volunteering at the community center events. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Jean Nunley; sons, Rick Nunley, Coalmont, Danny Ray Nunley, Tracy City, Mike (Shasta) Nunley, Palmer; daughters, Debbie (Ricky) Sanders, Tracy City, Christy (Stacy) Shrum, Tracy City; brother, Robert Nunley, Pleasant View, TN; grandchildren, Brian and Derrick Nunley, Andy Sanders, Cathy Shrum, Dixie Nunley, Bryson Shrum and Jaxon Nunley; great-grandchild, Briana Baker-Nunley; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Brother Larry Campbell, Brother, Mike Rigsby, Brother, Claude Hoback and Brother Terry Winton officiating. Burial will be in Coalmont Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday 2:00-9:00 P.M. Arrangements are being handled by Foster & Lay Funeral Home of Tracy City.
