Betty Jean Modena, age 79, of Winchester, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Harton Medical Center in Tullahoma, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Carl Norwood and Flora King and was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Edward Thomas and grandchildren Misty Lynn Thomas and Diane Scott.
Survivors include her husband, William L. Modena of Winchester, Tennessee, daughter Patricia (George) Taylor of Altamont, Tennessee, sons, Larry (Lynn) Thomas of Sewanee, Tennessee, Jerry Thomas of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Raymond Edward (Sarah) Thomas of Cowan, Tennessee, sister Deborah Henley of Calabash, North Carolina, 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend James Taylor and Reverend Roy Wright officiating, burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
