Mrs. Velma Pauline "Polly" Carpenter age 76 of Sewanee gained herAngel's wings on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Born in the Jumpoff community, she was a daughter of the late Jay C. Gass and Pressie Gudger Gass . She was married to Ambrose Carpenter who preceded her in death along with her brothers, Vernon, Raymond and Jerry Gass.
Polly loved music and is now singing in Heaven's choir and she was a caring lady that was devoted to her family.
She is survived by her son, Timothy "Rambo" Carpenter of Sewanee; special friends Crystal Shetters and Haley Wallace of Sherwood and many friends and relatives.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday in Franklin Memorial Gardens with Brother James Taylor officiating.The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Cumberland Funeral Home, Post Office Box 247, Monteagle, Tennessee 37356. On line condolences may be made at: www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net.
