Obituary of Lucy Short

Lucy Irene Rose Short, age 95, of Monteagle died at the home of her daughter on May 13, 2015. Irene was the last surviving child of David Martin and Vesta Ann Rose. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Albert "Jimmy" Short and her grandson, James Milton "Jim" Alligood. She was a sister to: Bill Rose (Eunice), Anasta "Honey" Smith (Roy), Violet Ruby "Toot" Layne (Jim), Carson Rose (Gladys Mae), Althea Patten (Dennis), and John Dillon "JD" Rose (Geneva). Left to cherish her memory are her children: Betty Alligood (Joe), Freda McCallie, James Dillon Short (Leigh), and Gay Jackson (Joel), her grandchildren: Carrie Roberts (Kenton), Vikki Jacobs (Dana), Tara Short, Marissa Wilson (Brandon), Amanda Jenkins (Logan), her great-grandchildren: Emily Fant (Mark), Libby Cecchetti, George Cecchetti, Tory Lewis, Tiffany Lewis, Bailey Roberts, Kaylee and Sophia Wilson, as well as, great-great grandchildren, Jaxon and Juliet Fant. She will also be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, May 15, 2015, from 2 - 5 P.M. CDT at the Cumberland Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service to follow visitation at 5:00 P.M. CDT in the Monteagle cemetery with Reverend Jocelyn Bell officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Church of the Holy Comforter, 16 1st Street, Monteagle, TN 37356.
