Clea Allen Sherrill, 52, of Sewanee passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. He was born on March 13, 1963 to James William and the late Cleo Dotson Sherrill of Sewanee. He was preceded in death by a sister, Darla Sherrill. Clea is survived by his two children David and Katie Sherrill, Sewanee; father James William Sherrill, Sewanee; brother Galon (Cindy) Sherrill, Alto; sisters Brenda (Doug) Woodard, Winchester, Janice Sherrill, Sewanee, Mary (Collis) Gipson, Winchester, Susie Henley, Sewanee, Cathy Sherrill, Sewanee, Tracie Sherrill, Sewanee; nieces and nephews Beth Burton, Estill Springs, Allison (Jason) and Faith Fraker, Christopher and Zoey Harper, Christiana, Clay Aleigh, and Reagan Sherrill, Estill Springs, Amanda (Kevin), Alexis, Dylan, Harley, and Jacob McClure, Winchester, Keith Henley, Sewanee, Jonathan and Jesse Henley, Sewanee; and his extended family of the Sewanee Volunteer Fire Department. Clea worked as a groundsman, dispatcher, and lab coordinator, but his greatest passion was being a Volunteer Firemen for the Sewanee Volunteer Fire Department, where he proudly served for 34 years. He was a captain with the department, managed the radios for both fire and police, and was the engineer behind the SVFD fireworks shows. Clea's other interests included watching UT football and going on his annual Labor Day camping trip. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sewanee Volunteer Fire Department. Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the funeral home chapel with Preacher James Ed Collins officiating, burial will follow in Eastern Star Cemetery.
