Obituary of Billy Hamby

Mr. Billy Wayne "Blue" Hamby age 82 of Monteagle passed away Saturday morning in Sewanee. He was born in Pelham, Tennessee a son of the late Robert Hamby and Ezella Thomas Hamby and was preceded in death by brothrs, Bill and Paul Sanders, Kenneth and JR Hamby; sisters, Mildred McNear and Irene Moore; grandson, Jeremy Hamby. "Blue" was retired from Monteagle Sunday School Assembly Grounds as the Superintendent of Grounds. He was very active in the community, serving on the city council as alderman for several years and also was a volunteer firefighter. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Hamby; son, Bobby Wayne (Debbie) Hamby, Monteagle; daughter, Peggy (Ernest) Burnett, Estill Springs; grandchildren, Jason, Amber, Dava and Alicia; 9 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend J.T. Steele officiating. Burial will be in Monteagle Cemetery with full military honors proudly provided by Sequatchie Valley Veterans Honor Guard.
