Obituary of Shirley Reeves

Mrs. Shirley Butner Reeves age 65 of Monteagle passed away at her home on Sunday morning. She was born in Manchester on January 3, 1949, a daughter of the late Jim Ed and Nell Couch Butner and was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Butner; grand-daughter, Mattie Marie Reeves; brother-in-law, David Reeves. Shirley had been a member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Monteagle for many years and had served her church in various capacities. She was a loving and caring wife and mother who had a lifelong love of reading which she shared with her son, Richard. She and her husband, Douglas would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary this Aug. 3rd. Survivors include her husband, Douglas; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Andrea Reeves; several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. A memorial service to celebrate Shirley's life will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 23rd, in the funeral home chapel. The Reverend Bill Barton will officiate. Her ashes will be buried in Monteagle Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. prior to the memorial service.
