Mr. Jimmy Ray Smith age 78 of the Providence community near Pelham passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, in Erlanger Medical Center after an extended illness. He was a son of the late John Hulon Smith and Lucille Patterson Smith and was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Gloria Jean Smith; nephew, Russell Smith; brother-in-law, James Spencer. Jimmy was retired from the Grundy County Highway Department.
Survivors include his fiance, Darla Ball, Pelham; son, Michael R. Smith, Pelham; daughter, Cynthia Mowl, Alabaster, Alabama; brother, David Hulon (Kathy) Smith, Providence; sister, Margaret Ellen Spencer, Manchester; nephews, Troy (Rhonda) Smith, Ricky Smith, Greg (Laura) Brown; niece, Angela (Keith) Nunley.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel, with Reverend John Kennedy. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday 5-9 P.M. at the funeral home. On line condolences may be made at www.cumberlandfuneralhome.net.
