Obituary of Sr. Walden

Mr. James W. Walden, Sr. age 78 of Manchester, Tennessee passed away Monday evening at his home with his family by his side. He was a retired carpenter and Baptist minister. A native of South Pittsburg he was born on October 24, 1932, a son of the late Jake and Lorene Scott Walden and was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Marie Walden in 2007. Mr. Walden was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Smith Walden, Manchester; children, James, Jr."Dooner"(Ann) Walden, Jasper, Janice (Houston) Ward, Flowood. MS, Sherry (Danny) Fults, Tracy City, Sandra Smartt, Manchester, Jeff Walden, Tullahoma, Billy (Valerie) Walden, Ft. Belvoir, VA; step-daughter, Debbie (Mickey) Zerio, Hartford, Conn.; niece, Bessie (Mark) Moran; great niece, Trish Anthony; 13 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step- great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Matthew Meeks and Reverend Richard Williams officiating.. Burial will be in Orme Mountain Cemetery, South Pittsburg with military honors. The family will receive friends 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
