Mr. Ed Wilson Sweeton age 84 of Tracy City passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at his home. He was born in Palmer, Tennessee a son of the late Albert Sweeton and Alice Mae Sanders Sweeton and was preceded in death by his brothers, Nelson and his wife, Ella Mae, Delbert Sweeton; sisters, Betty Rogers, Rosa Nell Scissom and her husband, Tommy; brother-in-law, Richard Smith; sister-in-law, Ruth Sweeton; a grandchild and a great-grandchild. Ed was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Ruth who passed away on December 9, 2006. He had worked for many years at Tyson Foods before retiring. Ed was known in the community as a hard working man who loved to raise his garden, he helped many people in many ways during his life. Ed was a long time member of Tracy City First Baptist Church. Survivors include his children, Eddie Marie (Wayne) Curtis, Julia (Chris) Rogers both of Tracy City; brothers, Alton Sweeton, Mt. Juliet, Wayne (Bobbie) Sweeton, Whitwell, Daymond (Nancy) Sweeton, Cartwright, TN; brother-in-law, James Rogers; sister, Kathleen Smith, Whitwell; sister-in-law, Regina Sweeton; grandchildren, Ben (Mandy) Curtis, Dustin (April) Curtis, Caitlin Rogers; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Lydia and soon to arrive, Emmaline Curtis; several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Ben Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 1 - 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
