Obituary of Sue Ellen Armentrout

Sue Ellen Gray Armentrout, daughter of William H. and Lucille (Whitlock) Gray, died on September 1, 2013, after a short illness. She received her B.A. from Winthrop College, attended Divinity School at Vanderbilt University, and received her M.Div. from the School of Theology at the University of the South. Sue worked at duPont Library from 1982 until her retirement in 2006. She was an adjunct faculty member at the School of Theology, and was a contributor to Synthesis, a preaching resource, from the time of its inception until 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Donald Smith Armentrout. She is survived by her three children, Emily (Russ Rowles), Ellen (Glen Staszewski), and Philip (Jenny Maher), and three grandchildren, Luke Rowles, and Benno and Nora Staszewski. A memorial service will be held at Otey Memorial Parish at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Friends of the Library at the University of the South, in care of Judy Rollins.
