Obituary of Kenneth Thomas
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rodney Kenneth "PeeWee" Thomas joined his mother, Esther Elizabeth Thomas and father, Roy Helman Thomas in heaven on August 10, 2013. His family lovingly referred to him as a "Miracle twice over," as he had survived a battle with lung cancer and a stroke the following year, neither of which was he given much chance of survival. Through God's grace, PeeWee's life was extended another five years, and during those years, he turned his life over to God, and used his remaining time to share his testimony of Faith, God's glory, God's grace, and his belief of eternal life in a place far better and more wondrous than man has ever beheld. PeeWee is survived by his wife, Margaret Anne Bowden Thomas, and a son Tyson Thomas and wife Amy (Rucker). He is also survived by his two daughters Anna Carol Disser and husband Steve, as well as Lauren Lynette Floyd, and husband Adam. His six grandchildren include Jacob, Grant, and Gracyn (Thomas), Ryan and Austin (Disser), and Thomas Cooper Floyd. He is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Helen Sanders of Manchester, TN, Edith Bryant and Leroy Thomas (Margaret Emily), both of Tracy City, TN PeeWee was a master of many things in his life, a carpenter, a coal miner, a grocer, the builder of a boat lovingly named, "Thomas the Tug," as well as a woodworker who built several violins named, "The Tyson" "The Anna", and "The Lauren" all of which were played at his funeral. His latest endeavor which he just did not have enough time to finish was a 250' G-scale outdoor railroad set for the enjoyment of his grandchildren. He was a husband three days shy of 42 years. Although he was a success in many areas of life, he always said his most important achievement was being the father of three wonderful children. A friend recently remarked, "His love for his family was enough to make you envious of them." PeeWee Thomas was a Christian whose passing was honored in a private graveside service held at City Cemetery in Tracy City on August 12, 2013. Brothers Danny Coffelt and Clayton Jones officiated. The family greatly appreciated the "fiddle" music provided by Big Don Hill's group of friends, and the gospel group "The Blessed." The family expresses love and gratitude for all of the prayers, phone calls, texts, messages, cards, and gifts of food. We especially appreciate Dean Lay at Cumberland Funeral Home in Monteagle, TN for his sincerity and kindness in making this most difficult time of our lives more bearable.
