Mr. Billy Ray Scissom age 68 of Jasper, Tennessee and formerly of Tracy City passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013, in Grandview Medical Center. He was born at home in rural Marion County, a son of the late Henry Scissom and Maudie Francis Campbell Scissom and he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Scissom; sisters, Peggy Ann Scissom and Mable Kilgore; niece, Henrietta Kilgore; wife, Faye Scissom. Billy Ray worked for Tennessee Consolidate Coal Company and had worked in law enforcement as a deputy for the Grundy County Sheriff's Dept. and as a dispatcher and jailer. Earlier in his life he enjoyed jogging and martial arts. Survivors include his children, Candy Scissom and her husband, John Sowell of Monteagle; son, Billy Ray Scissom, II of Monteagle; several nieces and nephews. The Scissom family has chosen cremation and no public services or visitation are planned. On line condolences may be made at www.fosterlayfuneralhome.net.
