Obituary of Sr. Watkins

Francis Gettys Watkins, Sr., 83, of Sewanee, TN died in his sleep Wednesday, February 27, 2013 of complications from acute myeloid leukemia. Mr. Watkins was born and raised in Athens, TN, and was graduated from The University of the South, and Yale University. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Ann Patton Watkins from Lookout Mtn., GA. He is survived by his daughter Anna S. Watkins of Decatur, GA and her children Vladimir and Vlada; son Frank Watkins, Jr. (Ann) of Chattanooga and their sons, Patton and Evan; Son Patton Watkins (Hunt Oliver) of Sewanee, TN and their children, Camas, Cullen and Ada, and a large extended family. Mr Watkins wished to be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and friend. A memorial service will be held at otey Parrish in Sewanee on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. with reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sewanee Senior Citizens Center, 5 Ball Park Road, Sewanee, TN 37375.
