Obituary of Dean Sutherland

Mr. Dean Sutherland age 84 of Monteagle passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, in Joplin, MO. He was a native of Sewanee, a son of the late Andrew Sutherland and Hazel Dupree Sutherland and was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Sutherland; sisters, Betty Green, Marie McBee and Shirley Thomas. Mr. Sutherland had worked as a water treatment operator for Monteagle Public Utility and Sewanee Public Utility and had retired from The University of the South.
He is survived by his son, Steven Sutherland, Joplin, MO; step-sons, Mike Gilliam, Monteagle, Eddie Gilliam, Whitwell, Tony Gilliam, Monteagle and Keith Gilliam, Ringgold, GA; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the Monteagle Cemetery Pavilion with Minister Mickey Henley officiating.
