Mr. James E. Campbell' Jimmy" age 70 of Tracy City passed away Wednesday at Emerald-Hodgson Hospital in Sewanee. He was a retired Tracy City merchant. He and his family had operated the Western Auto and later Campbell Supply Company in Tracy City for many years and had built residential homes and developed residential sub-divisions.
Mayor of Tracy City, Jimmy had been appointed by the Tracy City Council to serve as mayor until the next city election. He was very active in community affairs, served on the Tracy City Public Utility Board and was very proud to be from Tracy City and to represent its citizens.
He was a son of the late James Marion "Jim" Campbell and Margaret Sanders Campbell and was preceded in death by his wife, Bette Sue Campbell.
Survivors include his son, James E. "Eddie" Campbell, II of Tracy City; daughter, Susan D. Campbell of Winchester; brother, Roger Campbell of Tracy City; grandchildren, Kelly Campbell, Savannah Campbell and Alexandria Campbell.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Saturday in the Foster & Lay Chapel with Brother Wayne Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday 5-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
