Obituary of Ellen Cates

Ellen E. Cates, age 94 of Monteagle, Tennessee, died January 25, 2011 at Bailey Manor in Winchester. She was born June 4, 1916 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to the late W.B. and Margaret Douglas Earthman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray A. Cates Sr. A long time resident of Ocala, Florida, Ellen was a charter member of Woodside Baptist Church. She was an active member of the Ocala Art Group, Pioneer Garden Club and DAR. Ellen spent her summers at Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, where she enjoyed painting and spending time with family, as well as, serving many years on the MSSA Board of Trustees. She is survived by her daughter, Martha (Ron) Buffington of Monteagle, TN; son Ray (Barbara) Cates, Jr. of Ocala, Florida; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 step great-grandchild. The funeral Service will be held at Hiers Funeral Home in Ocala, Florida on Monday January 31 at 10 A.M.
