David Richard Taylor His life began in Oxford, AL, on June 16, 1944, with his parents Dewey Herbert Taylor and Ruby Nell McCombs, when he joined an older brother, Robert Franklin Taylor, and an older sister, Peggy Ann. Both his parents and older siblings are now deceased. He is survived by former wife Janelle Layne Taylor; his younger sister, Elizabeth Dianne Taylor, and his three children, Cassandra Elaine “Sandy” Taylor Carrell; husband, Kevin, of Alaska; Geoffrey “Jeff” Lawrence Taylor of Florida; and David Wesley Taylor and wife Amy of Alabama along with his step-daughter Megan Benton and husband Chris, several grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. In 1964 David was drafted into the US Army and assigned ultimately to serve in Germany. His later career path took him to a lifetime of management of various retail outlets such as Big Lots, Martin’s, & TJ Maxx. At home in Pelham, TN, he could always be found puttering in his shop, designing and building something, following the latest news, or in the garden. He was a devout man who proclaimed the name of Jesus Christ at any opportunity. His dying wish was that his family as well as everybody else would embrace the name of Jesus. David Taylor died August 6, 2023, in Huntsville Hospital. Per his wishes, there will be no services. Burial will be in the Warren “Red Hill” Cemetery in Pelham. Arrangements were handled by Cumberland Funeral Home, Monteagle, TN. Cumberland Funeral Home, 207 Mabee Avenue, Monteagle, TN 37356.
