Obituary of Herschel Dillard Eldridge

Herschel Dillard Eldridge, age 96, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023. He was born April 4, 1927, to the late Walter and Ruby Argo Eldridge. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carlene Eldridge; stepmother, Sarah Eldridge; son, Stephen Wayne Eldridge; daughter, Ruby Kay Eldridge; granddaughter, Crystal Nunley; great-grandchildren, Dustin Nunley and Travis Scott; grandmother, Martha Bivens; uncle, Levoy Bivens; and siblings, David Eldridge, Barney Eldridge, and Maggie Jean Eldridge. Herschel loved his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing his yard and chewing his tobacco. He is survived by his son, Roger Eldridge; siblings, Doug (Delphia) Eldridge and Martha Eldridge; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends; and a special friend, Tammy Meeks. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Myers Hill Congregational Church in Tracy City at 2:00 PM with Bro. Bobby Winton and Bro. Dennis Rollins officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors given by Sequatchie Valley Honor Guard. A visitation with the family will be held Tuesday at Cumberland Funeral Home from 5-9 PM.
