Obituary of Betty Ray Johnson

Betty Ray Wiggins Johnson, age 81, of Tracy City TN, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023. She was born in Tracy City to the late Robert and Dorothy Mai Cunningham Wiggins on March 30, 1942. Betty loved her family unconditionally. She was an avid seamstress for over 60 years and was an active member of the Plainview Community Church for several years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Johnson and sister, Dorothy Hargis. She is survived by her son, Johnny H. Carter; sister, Janie Manning of Chattanooga; brothers, Bobby (Doris) Wiggins, Billy (Christine) Wiggins, LeRoy (Teresa) Wiggins, and Eddie (Debbie) Wiggins; special “adopted” grandson, Samuel Morgan; grandchildren, Blake Carter and Nikki Carter; two great-grandsons; brother-in-law, Billy Hargis; and several special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Compassus Hospice and TN Oncology of Tullahoma. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Cumberland Funeral Home – Foster and Lay Chapel in Tracy City at 4:00 PM with Bros. Claude Hoback, Kyle Floyd, and Mike Rigsby officiating. Burial will follow at Orange Hill Cemetery. A visitation with the family will begin at 2:00 PM on Wednesday until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Betty’s name to Plainview Community Church or St. Judes.
