Obituary of Robert John Holmes

Robert John Holmes, age 90, passed away May 4, 2023. He was born January 16, 1933, in Bridgeport Connecticut, to the late James and Anna Vatard Holmes. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Holmes. Robert was very sport orientated and was a lifelong tennis player who spent many hours sharing his love of tennis with his family and encouraged them to play also. One of his favorite sports to watch was baseball and he was a big New York Yankees fan. He served his country in the Marines for 4 years during the Korean War. He was a little league coach for his children, he was a lifeguard and loved to swim. He enjoyed going to the beach and ocean and his visits always included a walk to “the colony”. He had a great sense of humor, was a great storyteller and loved to give advice. He had a unique gift of making young people feel appreciated. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sharon Holmes; children, Susanne Kos, Justin Holmes, and Christian Holmes; stepchildren, Tamara Graham, Suzanne Schlisner, Grant Schlisner, and Bret Schlisner; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
