Obituary of Jerry Ray Hardy

Jerry Ray Hardy, 83, of the Valley Home Community, passed from this life on Thursday,
March 16, 2023. He was born in Franklin County, Tennessee, near Vanzant Bend, on
October 20, 1939, to the late Lacy Hardy and Ray Bell (Bean) Hardy. He is preceded in
death by his wife, Anna Ruth (Meeks) Hardy, and brothers, Joe Wayne Hardy and
Raymon Lacy Hardy.
He is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Richard) McBee and son Richard and Donna
(Dykes) Hardy; three grandchildren, Ashleigh (Benjamin) Williams, Joseph Hardy, and
Julianna McBee; three great-grandchildren, Connor, Hallie, and Layla Williams. As well
as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jerry proudly and loyally served with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners
of America while completing his apprenticeship beginning in 1964. He continued
working in carpentry and construction, including several Union projects, such as TVA’s
Nickajack Dam, Tim’s Ford Dam, and Normandy Dam. Jerry continued his Union career
overseeing the Scheider Project at Arnold’s Air Force Base and serving two
non-consecutive terms as a Business Representative with the Union for the Tri-State
Carpenters. He completed his Union carpentry service career constructing the
Templeton Library in Sewanee, Tennessee, in 2000.
Funeral service will be at 5:00 P.M. Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Valley Home Community Church, 703 Layne's Cove Road, with Bro. Richard Hardy officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Warren Cemetery. Visitation with the family will also be held at the Church on Saturday from 4:00 P.M. till time on service.
