James Ed Meeks, age 79, of Tracy City Tennessee, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023. He was born in Tracy City to the late James Isaac and Margaret Meeks on September 23, 1943. He was a coal miner for over 30 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Mae Meeks; infant sister, Peggy Sue Meeks; brother, Clyde Meeks; and daughter-in-law, Carol Meeks.
He is survived by his children, Edna (Gary) Nunley, Eddie Meeks, and Lindsey Meeks; grandchildren, Aubrey (Kelly) Nunley, Jamie (Brad) Hunt, Melissa Meeks, Jennifer (David Mitchell) Meeks, and Kayla (Nathaniel) Gallagher; great-grandchildren, Allison Hunt, Kaitlyn Johnson, Dalton Johnson, Caroline Mitchell, Dawson Burks, and Declan Gallagher; brothers, Leroy (Sue) Meeks and France (Bonnie) Meeks; sisters, Martha Ann Collins and Ada (Barry) Steins; and many nieces and nephews.
The Graveside Service will be Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Plainview Cemetery at 1 PM with Bro. Bob Payne officiating. A visitation with the family will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Cumberland Funeral Home from 5-9 PM.
