Obituary of Veola Christine Hiett

Mrs. Veola Christine Hiett, age 91, of Coalmont, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2023 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System surrounded by her loving family. She was a remarkable woman with many talents including painting, gardening, cooking and sewing. She loved and cared for the many animals that came into her life during her 91 years of living. She was born on April 12, 1931, to Allen Lockhart and Octa Whitman Lockhart, both of whom preceded her in death as well as her husband, Philip Ray Hiett and son, Joseph Kerry Hiett. Veola is survived by her son, Jeffrey Ray (Rhonda) Hiett of Coalmont and daughter, Cynthia Lee Hiett Fisher of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandchildren, Chelsey (Ethan) Smith, Zackary Hiett, Azia Wells, and Krissy Shrum; great grandchildren, Aaliyah Ransom, James Wells III, Kamdon Shrum, and Denver Shrum. There will be a graveside service Friday, February 3, 2023 at Altamont Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Brother Bobby Winton officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation to an animal shelter of your choice. Cumberland Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.
