Obituary of William “Gene” Anderson

William “Gene” Anderson, age 80, of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away on January 14, 2023, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System, Sewanee, Tennessee. Gene was born on June 4, 1942, to the late Elisha and Dorothy Collins Anderson in Tracy City, Tennessee. He is also preceded in death by infant brothers; Charles Wesley and John Anderson, brothers; Robert N. Anderson, Hubert Tony Anderson, C.L. Anderson, and Douglas Anderson. Gene worked in the coal mines for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his 4-wheeler, watching westerns, all dogs, and listening to gospel and country music. Gene is survived by his son Eugene Anderson, daughter Patricia Ann Anderson, brothers; Henry David (Jozel) Anderson, Floyd (Patricia) Anderson, and Herbert J. (Loulene) Anderson, sisters; Betty (Ernest) Parsons, Gussie Anderson, Mae Anderson, grandchildren; Lora Anderson, Chris Meeks, Lee Anderson, Brittany (Terry) Murphy, Crystal (Dillon) Whitman, along with six great-grandchildren with one on the way and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on January 18, 2023, at 12:00 noon in the Foster and Lay Chapel of Cumberland Funeral Home, with Bro. Franklin Hill officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Gregg Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, from 5:00-9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
