Mary “Lucille” Worley Shrum
Mrs. Mary Lucille Shrum, age 92, of Tracy City, Tennessee passed away peacefully in her home on December 30, 2022. Lucille was born on June 12, 1930, in Altamont, Tennessee to the late John “Johnny Hoot” Worley and Eva Belle Hamby Worley.
Lucille was a single mother and worked in a sewing factory and hotel services before retiring from working in nursing home care. She was a lifelong caregiver to family and friends. She was a selfless, food pushing mother and granny to all. She never met a stranger and loved to drag out old pictures and share history and stories of the good old days. She will lovingly be remembered as the queen of Christmas, a wonderful cook, quilter, gardener, hummingbird lover, and most importantly, a wonderful nurturing mother, granny, sister, aunt, and friend. Many don’t know what a wonderful sense of humor she had, which is probably due to a humble upbringing and having five older brothers and four sisters! Her smile would light up the room and her giggle and “oh me’s” will be greatly missed.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Crisp; infant son, Michael; grandsons, Allan Crisp, Kelly Nunley and Kerry Nunley; granddaughters, Rhonda Fults and Melissa Nunley; great-grandchildren, Whitney Gipson and Isaiah Crisp; siblings, Ruby, Martha, Raymond, James, Paul (Peck), Ernest, Ershel, and Charles Worley, Dorothy Berry, and Olline Scott; as well as loving sisters and brothers-in-laws.
Lucille is survived by her children, Christine (Louis) Nunley and Gary Shrum of Tracy City, and Danny Shrum of Kentucky; son-in-law, Lloyd Crisp; sister, Annie Sue Tipton of Tennessee; grandchildren, Tim (Teresa), Stacy (Amy), Ryan Nunley, Stephen (Nancy) Crisp, Chasity (Gary) Oliver, Teresa Dodd, Misty (Jerrod) Meeks, Carrie (Duke) Turner, Tara, Cortney, and Caroline Shrum; as well as too many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren to name, a host of nieces and nephews, and wonderful lifelong friends. A special thanks to great-granddaughter, Allison Nunley and Amy Nunley, caretaker.
