Frank Emmett Clay, age 88, of Pelham passed away Monday, November 21, 2022, at Vanderbilt. He was born in Pelham, TN to Emmett Clay and Georgia Lee Myers Clay, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a lifetime Mason and a member of the United Methodist Church in Pelham. Frank was a school teacher for many years at Grundy County High School. He was a vocational agriculture teacher and FFA adviser. He was a Grundy County High School baseball coach and a member of the Grundy County Sports Hall of Fame. He was also a skilled horse trainer and he raised and trained beagles. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Sherry Faye Hoback Clay; sons, Frank Charles Clay, Tommy (Allecia) Hughes; daughters, Bethany Lee Geary, Roxanne Gipson, Tiffany (Shawn)Allen; brother, George Myers (Edwene) Clay; sisters, Drucilla (Clifton) Medley, Linda Jo Johnson, Peggy (Glenn) Darden; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters Susan Elizabeth Bergin and Jennifer Margaret Burnett. There will be a Celebration of Life Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 12:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. in the Cumberland Funeral Home Chapel.
