Obituary of Joseph Pritchett

Joseph Chester "Joe" Pritchett age 62 of Whitwell, Tennessee passed from this life Friday evening, Jan. 21, 2011. Joe was born Feb. 4, 1948 in Stevenson Alabama, a son of the late William Christopher Pritchett and Mary Ruth Turner Pritchett. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Louise Golston. Mr. Pritchett was a U.S. Army Viet Nam veteran, a carpenter & stone mason by trade. He was very proud of his Native American heritage and loved telling his friends stories about the old ways of our ancestors. Joe was a dreamer, loved chasing his dreams and sharing his life story with his friends. And most of all Joe loved helping people. Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Pritchett, Whitwell; children, Bonnie Lyn Brady, Tracy City, Lyddie Elizabeth Kilgore, Whitwell, Bobby Jo Perry, Jasper, Christa Gay Green, Whitwell, Joseph Christopher Pritchett, Sr., Whitwell, Andrew Luther Pritchett, Whitwell; brothers, William Lee "Pete" Pritchett, Tracy City, Walter "Shorty" Pritchett, Jasper, Luther Terry Pritchett, Jasper; sisters, Dianna Ruth McBryar, Chattanooga, Deborah Anne Pritchett, Patricia Faye Dykes and Brenda Kaye Green all of Jasper; 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Elder Franklin Hill officiating. It was Joe's wishes that he be cremated and his ashes scattered along the Cherokee Trail of Tears. The family will receive friends Monday 12:00 noon until 9:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Cumberland Funeral Home, 207 Mabee Avenue, Monteagle, Tennessee.
