Obituary of Johnny "Grandpa" Louis Sanders

Johnny “Grandpa” Louis Sanders, age 79, of Monteagle, Tennessee, passed away August 8, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Tracy City, Tennessee on August 9, 1942, to the late Louis Calvin and Mary Elizabeth Shelton Sanders. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Lou Ellen Nixon and Leona Pritchett. He worked in the coal mines for many years and was known as “Grandpa.” He loved to golf, go fishing, and work in his yard. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Doris Sanders; sons, Jason (Melanie) Sanders of Murfreesboro, TN and Johnny Sanders Jr. of Monteagle, TN; daughter, Lisa (Gerald) Sartain of Belleview, OH; grandchildren, Johnny L. Sanders III and Caleb Comer; brothers, Jan Sanders and Tom Sanders of Spring City, TN; sisters, Lucy Thurman, Lena Swafford, and Loretta Hale of Spring City, TN; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Cumberland Funeral Home in Monteagle, Tennessee at 11:00 AM with Bro. Ralph Shrum officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 9-11 AM prior to the memorial service.
