Mrs. Orene Marie Clark Tant, age 85 of the Midway community near Sewanee passed away Monday, January 30, 2012, in Emerald-Hodgson Skilled Care in Sewanee. A loving mama and grandma, she was born in Sewanee, a daughter of the late George Washington Clark and Jennie Mae Nugent Clark and was preceded in death by a brother, Houston Clark; sister, Eilene Long; step-father, Benton "Tub" Green; grandsons, Marty Parson and Charles Tant; her children's father, David Tant. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carol & Wayne McBee of Sewanee; son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie & Linda Tant of Sewanee; step-sons, Larry Tant of Estill Springs and Jr. Tant of New York; grandchildren, Rita Parson, Angie (Greg) McBee, John Tant, Derek (Brandy) Parson, Denise Gipson, Dawn Smartt, Debbie Fults, Michael Parmley, Mollie (Michael) Barrett; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Leslie, Clayton, Fallon, Madelyn (due to arrive in March), Mandy, Kristen, Chase, Hunter, Megan, Tanner, Dakota, Autumn, Danica, Michael; great-grandchildren, Baylee, Lance, Brayden, Landon and J. Mike; several nieces and nephews, a special friend, Ann Pack and her beloved cat, Wizard. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Harrison Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday 5-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
